In the world premiere of Nora Ephron’s play with music, “Imaginary Friends,” two famed literary figures--Lillian Hellman and Mary McCarthy--become bitter adversaries in a years-long feud that culminated in Hellman’s suing McCarthy for libel. Tony Award-winning stage veterans Swoosie Kurtz and Cherry Jones play Hellman and McCarthy, respectively; directed by Jack O’Brien, the show features music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Craig Carnelia.

Legendary pianist-composer Herbie Hancock will perform and be honored at the Los Angeles Jazz Society’s 20th annual Jazz Tribute and Awards Dinner/Concert at the Biltmore Hotel in L.A. Radio personality Chuck Niles will emcee the show, which will also include performances by the Gerald Clayton Trio, Annie Ross Trio, Roger Neumann and the Brad Dechter Octet, James Newton and the Cal State L.A. Student Jazz Ensemble, John Pisano and others.
