From Times Wire Reports

Rep. Stephen E. Buyer (R-Ind.), who took a leave of absence to serve in the Iraq war, will not be going after all. Buyer, a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves, said in Monticello, Ind., that he received a notice from the Pentagon.

The letter said in part that “due to your high-profile status as a United States representative, we are concerned that your presence would put in jeopardy your safety and the safety of those serving around you, given the current security environment in the theater of operations.”
