Santa Ana Schools Wasted Building Funds

Re “Disputed Santa Ana School Site Ruled Out,” March 26:

I want my money back!

Along with many other Santa Ana residents, I supported Measure C to raise money to build schools. But, through ineptitude or corruption, too much money went to consultants, and not enough to schools. So, along with many other Santa Ana residents, I supported a change in the school board so money could go to build schools. But the new board, in one of its first acts, canceled construction of one of the few schools that was actually slated for construction, thereby wasting all of the money that went into its design and planning.

The school board canceled construction of Lorin Griset Elementary so that a developer could build expensive homes on its site (and thereby reap short-term profits at the expense of our children). There are plenty of overpriced houses in northern Santa Ana. I know. I live in one. There are not enough schools, in northern Santa Ana or anywhere in the city. I know. My boy starts kindergarten in the fall.

I want my vote back too!
