‘Racist’ Border Patrol Has Crossed the Line

I was disappointed to see you promote the racist superego of Chris Simcox and others (“Patriots on the Borderline,” by Dan Baum, March 16). They are nothing but a group of racist vigilantes wrapping themselves in the American flag. Since the mid-’80s, our organization has gone to the canyons, desert and mountains along the border to help feed and clothe our migrant brothers and sisters. Our work is purely humanitarian.

Shame on Simcox and the simple-minded, arrogant, ignorant racist groups.

I doubt that your magazine would have run such a blatant hit piece as you did against the border activists had it been an immigrants’ rights organization instead. You should have focused on why the United States cannot, or chooses not to, adequately protect its border during wartime.
