Fire at Food-Processing Plant Kills 21 Workers

A fire roared through a food-processing plant in eastern China, killing 21 workers, the official New China News Agency reported.
The fire broke out just after midnight as about 500 workers were in the plant, which is on the outskirts of the port city of Qingdao, the agency said. The Qingdao Chia Tai Co. building collapsed, trapping some of the people inside. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
