LAUSD’s Budget: Kids and Teachers Suffer
Re “Teacher Layoffs Considered in L.A.,” April 3: If the Los Angeles Unified School District and Supt. Roy Romer want to save money, cut out the mini-districts and the six-figure salaried consultants. The rent alone in the many mini-districts would save millions.
Let the people working at the districts go back to the schools and really work with children. If they don’t want to work directly with our kids, then let them leave the district.
As for the consultants, these people don’t have a clue as to the conditions at the schools. They just keep piling more paperwork on the classroom teachers and just don’t get it. We are there to teach, not to justify someone’s out-of-classroom position.
The last thing this or any district needs to do is let nonpermanent teachers go. They are the future of our nation.
