From Times Wire Reports
The New York mayor’s office said nearly 2,000 education workers will lose their jobs in June, one day after it announced plans to lay off more than 3,400 municipal employees.
The layoff of teacher aides will take effect at the end of the school year.
On Monday, the city announced it would lay off 3,443 employees within 30 days to help bridge a projected $3.4-billion to $4-billion budget deficit for fiscal 2004, which begins July 1.
