Leap Wireless Files for Bankruptcy Protection

Leap Wireless International Inc., a San Diego wireless communications services provider spun off by Qualcomm Inc., filed for Chapter 11 protection.

Leap Wireless and its Cricket Communications unit have been in talks with major creditors for a month to restructure debt, the company said. Leap Wireless said it expects to reach an agreement “in the next few weeks.”
