Susan P. Kennedy, a charter member of Gov. Gray Davis’ senior staff, won Senate confirmation Monday to a seat on the Public Utilities Commission.
Kennedy, 42, was approved on a 29-4 bipartisan vote.
Davis had appointed her to a six-year term at an annual salary of $114,191.
Senate President Pro Tem John Burton (D-San Francisco) praised her as a person of high integrity.
But Sen. Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks) noted her role in approving a $96-million contract with Oracle Corp. to provide software that state managers did not want or need.
