Hunger strike at museum ends

Share

Five Armenian American hunger-strikers, who began a sidewalk fast a week ago in a bid to pressure the Museum of Tolerance to pay more attention to the Armenian genocide in its exhibits, suspended their protest Monday night, saying they would wait to see how the Los Angeles museum follows through on previously announced plans for a new display on 20th century genocides.

Museum director Liebe Geft said the hunger-strikers, members of the Armenian Youth Foundation, ages 18 to 23, made their decision following a meeting in which she outlined the museum’s programs and plans.
