Gang Detail Probing Man’s Shooting Death
The shooting death of a 35-year-old man in a Santa Ana neighborhood early Sunday was being investigated by the Police Department’s gang detail, police said.
Officers responding to a report of gunfire in the 2100 block of West Fifth Street found Peter Medina of Santa Ana on the ground about 1:45 a.m., said police Sgt. Bill Barrett.
Medina was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead, Barrett said. Police did not divulge a motive for the shooting.
