From Times Wire Reports

A Jeep believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident that led to the shooting death of a world champion Thai-style kickboxer has been recovered, police said Saturday.

Alex Gong, 30, who headlined kickboxing fights in Las Vegas and often appeared on ESPN, was killed in the middle of a busy San Francisco street Friday afternoon after he chased down a driver who had allegedly crashed into his parked car.

Witnesses said Gong confronted the Jeep’s driver, who waited for a traffic signal to turn green before firing at point-blank range and speeding away.

Millbrae police said they located the Jeep Cherokee, which had been abandoned at a gas station, late Friday night.

Millbrae is about 14 miles south of San Francisco. Police said the Jeep had been reported stolen in July and carried a stolen license plate.
