Bryce Jamie, a senior networking engineer at Paramount Pictures, had dreamed of owning a rustic cabin-style house, but his wife, Rochelle, convinced him to consider something more up to date.
It was 1996, and they had just commissioned Frank Escher and Ravi GuneWardena to design a home in Pasadena.
Rochelle, who teaches in a Montessori school, remembers telling the architects that she wanted “lots of air, lots of white.” And, she said, “I wanted it extremely modern.”

Drought-tolerant landscaping blends with the natural topography.
