Share

A winner of four of six in 2002, Running Bac will try for her first win as a 5-year-old in tonight’s eighth, a $13,850 allowance at 300 yards.

Owned by J. Francisco Diaz and trained by Juan Aleman, the Utah-bred mare won four handicaps last year and was third in another. In her only start in 2003, she was a troubled eighth in the Charger Bar Handicap on Jan. 25.

Running Bac, who has won 10 of 19 races in her career and earned more than $108,000, will break from Post 6 in the field of seven and will be ridden for the first time by Hector Cuevas.

Marmeta, who will leave from the outside post, is the only entrant coming off a victory, but it was almost eight months ago. The 4-year-old Pritzi Dash mare, who is owned and trained by Paul Jones, hasn’t been out since she won an allowance by 1 1/2 lengths Dec. 6. Jones also is scheduled to run Wire Ta Wire.
