Man Sentenced to Death in 1999 Rape, Murder

A man convicted of raping and murdering a Huntington Beach woman was sentenced to death Monday.
Victor M. Miranda-Guerrero, 24, was sentenced by Orange County Superior Court Judge Francisco P. Briseno for the rape and murder of Bridgette Elizabeth Ballas, 29.
Ballas, an account executive for Calvin Klein apparel, was attacked while walking home in the early-morning hours of Nov. 27, 1999, after a night out with friends.
Miranda-Guerrero had been a cook at a downtown grill.
