One group might study the other

In his review of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Richard Ginell (“Rocking, Rocking Night,” July 24) wonders about the attendance at the concert at the Bowl and if the traffic keeps folks away. He ought to come to John Mauceri’s Hollywood Bowl Orchestra concerts, where there are often 15,000 people happy to sit in traffic afterward. I wonder why Mr. Mauceri and his orchestra are not scheduled at the new Disney Hall. Does the L.A. Philharmonic management think we audience members don’t notice the difference? They are killing their own institution -- slowly but surely. A new concert hall will be exciting for a year, but there still needs to be an audience inside.
