Evading Checkpoint for Bush Visit Fatal to Man
From Times Wire Reports
A man was shot and killed by sheriff’s deputies after he evaded a checkpoint set up for President Bush’s visit to a fire-ravaged area near Tucson, police said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was apparently intoxicated when he was stopped by an officer at the base of Mt. Lemmon, near Tucson, an official said.
“Our initial indication is this had absolutely zero to do with the president’s visit,” sheriff’s spokesman Steve Easton said.
