* Foster’s Group Ltd., Australia’s best-known beer maker and the parent of Beringer Wine Estates winery in Napa Valley, is looking to sell more than 100 pubs through an initial public offering to raise nearly $1 billion and use the money to buy more winemakers, possibly in the United States.

* Sun Microsystems Inc.’s Baa1 debt rating may be reduced by Moody’s Investors Service, which cited a “continued decline” in Sun’s sales of server computers and market share.

* General Media Inc., a subsidiary of Penthouse International Inc. and publisher of adult magazine Penthouse, said it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection so it could restructure its operations and debt.

* PeopleSoft Inc., which is fighting off a hostile takeover by Oracle Corp., added new allegations to its lawsuit that claim Oracle attempted to disrupt its customer relationships and engaged in other unfair practices. Oracle had no immediate comment.

* Global Crossing Ltd. said it formed a partnership with a unit of IDT Corp., which unsuccessfully tried to gain control of the fiber-optic network operator. The companies agreed to jointly sell their services to businesses in 22 U.S. cities.

* Troubled cable television operator Adelphia Communications Corp. sued preferred shareholders to block them from appointing directors to the company’s board.

* SureBeam Corp., a San Diego maker of food-irradiation systems, said it had again delayed the release of its second-quarter results.
