Cooling-Off Ordered for MTA, Mechanics
From Times Staff Reports
A Superior Court judge on Wednesday ordered a two-week cooling-off period in the labor talks between the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the union representing its mechanics, a spokesman for state Atty. Gen. Bill Lockyer said.
The ruling prevents the mechanics from striking and the MTA from locking them out until Sept. 3, when both sides will return to a court hearing on the possible institution of a 60-day cooling off period.
