MSNBC has dropped plans for a weeknight show starring Jesse Ventura, saying Thursday the former Minnesota governor will instead be host of a once-a-week program on Saturdays.

The cable network still hasn’t announced a start date or a time slot for Ventura’s program.

MSNBC announced it had signed the former professional wrestler for a topical talk show last winter, saying it would be on the air in March. But there were a series of delays as concepts were tested off-air, leading to questions about whether the show would ever appear.

Elected governor in 1998, Ventura had a weekly radio show during his four years in office and was a TV commentator for the short-lived XFL football league.
