San Francisco Manager Felipe Alou, who managed the Expos from 1992 to 2001, was given a standing ovation by the crowd of 10,551 when he came out of the dugout to remove Foppert later in the seventh. It was Alou’s first appearance at Olympic Stadium since he was fired by former Expo owner Jeffrey Loria.

Philadelphia 7, St. Louis 4 -- Jim Thome and Ricky Ledee homered to lead the wild-card leading Phillies at Philadelphia.

Albert Pujols singled, doubled and tripled, extending his major league-leading hitting streak to 29 games, and Jim Edmonds hit his 30th homer for the Cardinals, who had won five of six.

Woody Williams (14-6) gave up five runs and 10 hits in five innings to lose his third decision in a row. After the Cardinals scored four runs to get within 5-4, Thome gave the Phillies a three-run lead with a two-out, two-run shot off Pedro Borbon in the sixth. It was his 31st homer.

Florida 10, San Diego 0 -- Brad Penny pitched seven shutout innings, and Mike Lowell and rookie Miguel Cabrera homered at Miami.

Penny (11-9) gave up five hits and struck out seven, and Lowell drove in three runs to help the Marlins remain a half-game behind Philadelphia in the wild-card race.

Atlanta 10, Arizona 4 -- Vinny Castilla, Andruw Jones and Marcus Giles homered off Randy Johnson (3-5) at Atlanta and the Braves dropped the Diamondbacks three games behind Philadelphia in the wild-card race.

The Braves have 21 homers in their last nine games, pushing their league-leading total to 185.

Johnson’s earned-run average climbed to 5.08 after the Braves pounded him for nine hits and seven runs in five innings.

New York 5, Colorado 0 -- With the lights back on at Shea Stadium, Tom Glavine pitched six effective innings and the Mets got home runs from rookies Jose Reyes and Jason Phillips to win for the seventh time in 10 games.

After a blackout that affected much of the Northeast forced the postponement of Thursday night’s game against the Giants, the Mets, last in the East Division, rewarded 28,081 with a victory.
