Supervisors Sue to Dump Funding Law
From a Times Staff Writer
Ventura County supervisors have filed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate an ordinance that sets law enforcement funding.
The action follows an earlier lawsuit brought by Sheriff Bob Brooks and Dist. Atty. Greg Totten.
That suit contends that it is supervisors who broke the law when they gave public safety departments lower-than-expected funding two years ago.
Both sides have been arguing over the interpretation of the ordinance since it was adopted on a 3-2 vote by supervisors eight years ago.
