Dickerson Joins Channel 2 Team
Eric Dickerson, who had a less-than-auspicious two-year stint as a sideline reporter on ABC’s “Monday Night Football” during the Dennis Miller era (2000-2001), is returning to sports television.
Channel 2 has hired the Hall of Fame running back to serve as a commentator on its “Sports Central” Sunday shows that precede CBS’ “NFL Today” and follow CBS’ game coverage. Dickerson will work with Jim Hill and Steve Hartman.
Hill is said to have convinced station management that Dickerson’s role in a less-restrictive format on “Sports Central” will be a better fit than his role on “Monday Night Football.”
Dickerson has experience as a studio commentator with Fox Sports Net Southwest in Texas. There he worked with former Southern Methodist teammate and current ESPN commentator Craig James and former Dallas Cowboy executive Gil Brandt for a show titled “In the Huddle.”
