From Staff and Wire Reports

Prosecutors said Friday that they want to retry an Orange man on charges related to attacks on four teenagers in Black Star Canyon two summers ago.

A jury this month found Cuahutemoc Torres, 21, guilty of nine lesser felonies but deadlocked on the sexual assault charges against him.

His two co-defendants were found guilty of all 39 felonies filed against them.

The two teen couples were attacked July 3, 2001. The boys, then 16 and 18, were beaten and tied up. The girls, then 13 and 15, were taken away and raped.

A hearing on the possible retrial was set for Sept. 19.
