Equal Opportunity for God and Atheism

Share

The only way the government can legitimately subsidize religious studies without violating the 1st Amendment is by providing equal opportunities for all religions and atheism (Dec. 3). In the case of Locke vs. Davey, now before the Supreme Court, that would require the state of Washington to offer scholarships for degree programs not only in various branches of Christianity but also in Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Wicca, Scientology, etc., and their various branches. It must provide such programs if none exist.

A degree program for studies in atheism will also be necessary to avoid promotion of religion; contrary to assertions in the media, there is presently no such program in this country.
