One Network Is Clearly Alive and Well in O.C.
Re “As Teen’s O.C. Rape Trial Nears, His Family’s Civil Suit Complicates Case,” Dec. 7:
I thought the Orange County Sheriff’s Department was supposed to arrest and help prosecute criminals, not aid them.
I guess when your dad is closely connected to the sheriff you get special treatment, even when the evidence against you includes a videotape.
It is clear the good ol’ boy network is alive and well in Orange County.

If there is a videotape of Gregory Haidl, Kyle Nachreiner and Keith Spann gang-raping an unconscious woman, I hope that “Daddy’s money” does not interfere with the justice they deserve.
I live in Orange County because I feel safe here, there is a low crime rate and it is beautiful. As a young woman, I implore public-safety officials to protect me, my friends and all of the young women who live here.
I sincerely hope money is not more important than protecting the young women who live in Orange County.
