Sparks on the party circuit

Don’t know if there’s a buddy comedy in the works, but that sexy samurai Tom Cruise kicked it all night with funnyman Jamie Foxx at Foxx’s b-day bash on Thursday, a swanky affair held at the 9000 Lounge on Sunset Boulevard. Among the partakers were Quincy Jones, Mya and the Dallas Mavericks.... And score one for the Davis dynasty. Allan, his brother Art and Art’s wife, Cheryl (owners of A.D., the Lounge, the Gate), put everything behind their latest investments -- the Hyatt Hotel restaurant Chi and its rooftop nightclub. Last Tuesday the roof was was jumpin’ like it was 1999.... While scoping the stars (Clooney, Leo) at doorgirl Jenifer Rosero’s b-day bash at Concorde, I bumped into my girl Zoey -- one of the bodacious blonds in Hef’s party posse. Zoey says she’s still catching her breath from Saturday’s birthday party for Nicolas Cage. Although such Hollywood royalty as Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher were in the hizzuh, the night’s grand entrance belonged to Cage’s grandmother, who waltzed in with a lovely black pony for Nic. Sweet.

Day in court

Oh, the trials and tribulations of the velvet rope: Clubland is celebrating the Century Club’s recent court victory. The Century City nightclub won a motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought against it by a group of men who sued under the Unruh Civil Rights Act for price discrimination against males (i.e., women getting in free or for reduced prices). According to multiple sources, this same group has been pressuring nightclubs for out-of-court settlements for years.... A little birdie tells us the guys behind the Short Stop just bought Footsies, a Highland Park bar. Score two for H.P., which is soaring with the recent opening of the Little Cave.
