Florida State Stays Unbeaten

Anthony Richardson and Tim Pickett each scored six points during an 18-0 run to start the second half as Florida State (9-0) remained unbeaten with an 83-62 victory over Wagner (0-6) on Thursday night at Tallahassee, Fla.

In other men’s games:

Aaron Bond capped a rally layup in the final seconds to give Northern Arizona (4-5) a 74-73 upset of Nevada Las Vegas (5-3) at Las Vegas.... Brandon Heath scored 20 points to lead San Diego State (6-3) to a 90-71 victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (3-3) at San Diego.

WOMEN

Diana Taurasi had 15 of her 22 points in the second half to lead No. 1 Connecticut to an 81-55 victory over Arizona State at Hartford, Conn.

It was the 600th victory for the Connecticut (7-0) program and came only 103 games after the 500th victory. The Sun Devils are 5-3.

No. 7 Stanford (7-1) had to rally for a 72-62 victory over Rice (2-5) at Houston.... Temeka Johnson had 21 points and 12 assists as No. 16 Louisiana State (7-2) rolled to a 76-53 victory over Richmond (6-2) at Baton Rouge, La.

Jessica Davenport scored 25 points, including 14 in a row during a second-half run, as No. 18 Ohio State (5-1) crushed Wright State, 88-45, at Columbus, Ohio. Jeanette Woodberry led Wright State (2-7) with 13 points.... Cathy Joens had 19 points as George Washington (5-2) upset No. 21 Oregon, 72-52, at Washington. Carolyn Ganes led the Ducks (8-2) with 13 points.

St. Louis announced its plans to build a 13,000-seat arena at a cost of $70 million that will become the new home of the Billikens for the 2005-06 season.... Penn State women’s Coach Rene Portland broke her leg after slipping on ice outside the school’s arena but is expected to be back for the Nittany Lions’ game Sunday against Louisiana Tech.... Chicago State was put on NCAA probation for two years for rules violations in women’s basketball.
