District to Consider More School Closures

After approving a proposal last week to close four of the district’s elementary schools next fall, San Juan Unified School District officials say they will look into closing more schools.

“Over the next year we will be taking a hard look as to whether we would be closing a middle or high school,” said San Juan Supt. General Davie Jr.

Because of shrinking enrollment, the district decided that as of August 2004 it will operate without Sunrise, Littlejohn, Fair Oaks and Kenneth Avenue elementary schools.
