CSC to Help Create System in Britain

Computer Sciences Corp. will lead a $1.7-billion effort to craft a new integrated patient record system for Britain’s National Health Service, the company announced.

Under the contract, which runs until 2013, the company will head an alliance tasked with designing and operating a new record system for patients in some parts of England.

CSC, an El Segundo-based supplier of computer services, said other companies involved in the project included Hedra, a British public-sector management and technology consulting company; Dallas-based software developer ISoft Corp.; and SCC, a British information technology company.

CSC shares rose $2.05 to $43.90 on the NYSE.
