Four Die When Plane and Glider Collide in Air
A small plane and a glider collided above the desert in suburban Phoenix, killing four men aboard, authorities said.
Both aircraft took off from the Turf Soaring School in Peoria, west of Phoenix, said Jerry Johnston, the Federal Aviation Administration regional operator. Two people were aboard a Piper J-3 Cub airplane; the other two victims were occupants of a 1983 Schleicher model glider, Johnston said.
Investigators from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board were expected to arrive today to investigate.
