New Alarm Policy Exempts City Leaders
Re “City Leaders’ Alarms Ring Louder for LAPD,” Jan. 31: Are the people receiving priority responses from the L.A. Police Department to unverified burglar alarms paying different taxes from those of us who will not be receiving this service any longer?

In the last month, the “new” LAPD has sent these messages to the criminal element: No neighborhood sweeps looking for wrongdoers. No response to alarm calls to locate wrongdoers, except for city buildings and officials. No pursuits to apprehend wrongdoers, other than the most serious. So who benefits from these policies? The taxpaying public or the criminal element?
