Two Pollsters Jailed Over Survey on U.S.
Two Iranian pollsters who outraged hard-liners with a survey that found 74% of Tehran residents support contacts with the U.S. have been sentenced to prison on charges of selling secrets to groups linked to the CIA, lawyers said.
Hossein Ali Qazian was sentenced to nine years, and Abbas Abdi was given eight years.
Prosecutors accused the two of holding secret talks with and providing data to institutes and individuals -- including the Gallup Organization -- affiliated with U.S., British and Israeli intelligence services.
