2 Boys Escape From Van on Way to Juvenile Hall
From Times Staff Reports
A 17-year-old boy arrested for armed robbery and a 14-year-old boy in custody for assault with a deadly weapon escaped Thursday on their way from court back to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall after kicking out the windows of a probation van, authorities said.
The boys crawled out the window and ran west on Imperial Highway, and both were recaptured hours later, said Ken Kondo, a county Probation Department spokesman.
There have been 12 juvenile hall escapes since March.
