Senior Citizens Warned of Scam to Rob Them
Authorities are warning elderly Sacramento residents to be on the lookout for a con artist posing as a Social Security worker.
On Friday, a woman claiming to be from Social Security visited a 63-year-old woman and then stole a purse containing $500, said Jan Cater, a Sacramento County sheriff’s detective.
The next day, a woman of the same description and a male accomplice visited an 86-year-old woman. Once inside, one of them distracted the woman while the other stole cash and valuables from her home, Cater said. She said no one has been arrested.
