OSCARS

READ HIS LIPS: Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences chief Frank Pierson made a “presidential promise” Tuesday that the Oscar telecast would end by midnight on the East Coast. But this is the 75th anniversary of the awards, and that would seem to call for a fair bit of hoopla. You likely won’t see a parade of past winners; that was done for the 70th Oscars in 1998. Maybe instead they’ll do a remote segment from the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, site of the first Oscars on May 16, 1929, and just across the street from the Kodak Theatre.
