Here’s More Advice for Mr. Plaschke

Share

With an Orange Bowl win, a combined 62-point victory margin over Notre Dame and UCLA, a Heisman Trophy, a women’s volleyball national championship, and now a 3-1 mark in men’s and women’s basketball against the Bruins, it has been an especially great couple of months to be a Trojan.

Could we please keep it that way? Resist the urge, Mr. Plaschke, to now declare it a Trojan basketball town.

We all saw what happened when you decided that Los Angeles now “belong[ed] to the Bruins” football team. Since that fateful day in October 2001, the Trojans have gone 15-3 with a BCS bowl win while the Bruins have posted a .500 record and lost their coach.

So write all you please about the demise of Steve Lavin and UCLA’s first losing season since 1948.

Just don’t intimate that the Trojans have “won the neighborhood” or any other sort of jinxing nonsense. I really don’t want to see the Bruins in the Final Four next year.
