“Gerry,” Gus Van Sant’s new film about two friends whose wilderness trek elicits either strong praise or complaints of boredom, grossed $26,285 at two venues for a relatively strong per-theater average of $13,143. The film stars Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, and features long stretches of dialogue.

Meanwhile, “Daredevil,” with a four-day total of $45 million, even though final figures were $2 million less than studio estimates reported Tuesday, posted the second best February opening in history and the highest for a Presidents Day weekend.

But February’s all-time top opener remains “Hannibal,” which grossed $58 million in 2001.

Also, the top 12 films grossed a total of $141.1 million, which also represents a new high for the Presidents Day weekend.
