Ramseys Have Nothing To Lose Lose

Share

It remains to be seen whether owners Ken and Sarah Ramsey will win the Kentucky Derby with Badge Of Silver, so impressive in Sunday’s Risen Star at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, or Ten Cents A Shine, a flop in Saturday’s Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream Park in Florida.

What is certain is that the Ramseys have a quality 3-year-old turf runner. Nothing To Lose, son of Sky Classic, will try to remain unbeaten in today’s $100,000 Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream.

Now trained by Wayne Lukas after beginning his career with Charles Simon, Nothing To Lose has won three turf races, including as the favorite in the Tropical Park Derby on New Year’s Day at Calder.

The Palm Beach, a Grade III race at 1 1/8 miles, also attracted Unbridels King, Sea Pleasure, Hypnotist, Imitation, White Cat, Purely Classic, Private Gold, Milennium Storm, Title Contender, One Colony, Aventura Place and also-eligible Shining Rock. The race is part of a pick six that has a guaranteed pool of $25,000.

Who’s hot: Gregory Martin. The trainer won with 13 of 39 starters at Aqueduct. His lone starter today is ninth race contender Mister Silence.

Who’s not: The field in today’s eighth at Santa Anita. The 12 older horses are winless in 77.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/110. Money: Previous day/meet total: $16.80/$649.20. Total money bet: $718.
