Lawson Carries Tennessee, 68-65

Led by Kara Lawson in the closing minutes, No. 3-ranked Tennessee rallied Sunday to get by No. 4 Louisiana State, 68-65, at Baton Rouge, La.

Tennessee (24-3, 12-0 Southeastern Conference) trailed, 46-38, in the second half. LSU (23-2, 10-2) had won eight straight before Sunday. Lawson scored nine of her 12 points in the last five minutes.

No. 1 Connecticut 77, Notre Dame 59 -- The Huskies (26-0, 13-0 Big East) recorded their 65th consecutive victory, led by 13 points from Diana Taurasi at Storrs, Conn. Teresa Borton scored 21 points for the Irish (15-9, 7-6).

Ohio State 56, No. 11 Purdue 51 -- Kim Wilburn’s jump shot with 35 seconds left broke a 50-50 tie at Columbus, Ohio, and the Buckeyes (18-8, 9-6 Big Ten) held on to defeat Purdue (21-5, 10-4).

No. 16 Minnesota 73, No. 12 Penn St. 57 -- Janel McCarville scored 18 points at Minneapolis to lead the Gophers (21-4, 10-4) and prevent the Nittany Lions (22-7, 12-3 Big Ten) from clinching a share of the Big Ten title.

No. 13 Georgia 69, No. 15 Arkansas 60 -- Christi Thomas scored 24 points and Alexis Kendrick made six consecutive free throws in the final minute to carry Georgia (18-7, 9-3 SEC) over the Razorbacks (19-8, 6-6) at Athens, Ga.

No. 14 Mississippi State 70, Mississippi 62 -- LaToya Thomas scored 37 points at Starkville, Miss., as Mississippi State (20-6, 8-4 SEC) beat Mississippi (12-13, 1-11).

No. 17 South Carolina 65, Auburn 64 -- Petra Ujhelyi’s three-point play with 1.5 seconds left sent South Carolina (19-6, 7-5 SEC) over the Tigers (17-8, 5-7) at Columbia, S.C.

No. 18 Vanderbilt 64, Florida 58 -- Jenni Benningfield scored 18 points to lift the Commodores (18-7, 8-4 SEC) over the Gators (8-17, 0-12) at Gainesville, Fla.
