CBS sniffs at rival’s show

After suing to prevent ABC from broadcasting “I’m a Celebrity -- Get Me Out of Here!,” a CBS official now says that, after seeing the show, he’s “not unhappy” that the network didn’t prevail in court. Ratings have been low for the program, which strands various celebrities in Australia -- a concept that CBS felt infringed on its “Survivor” copyright.

On Monday, CBS Television President Leslie Moonves said the show wouldn’t preempt a possible celebrity version of “Survivor,” and he stressed that any such stunt, if staged, would generate far more star wattage than ABC managed.

“It’s hard to call most of those people ‘celebrities,’ ” Moonves said, singling out Alana Stewart and Cris Judd, whose claims to fame, he noted, are having been married to Rod Stewart and Jennifer Lopez, respectively.
