From Staff and Wire Reports

Former Cincinnati Red Rob Dibble sees red when he thinks about current Red Ken Griffey Jr.

Dibble, now an ESPN broadcaster with a reputation for making blunt observations, labeled Griffey “a cancer” and “a waste of amazing, God-given talent” during an interview Monday on ESPN Radio.

Asked if he expects Griffey to remain with Cincinnati all season, Dibble said, “Oh God, I hope not. What a cancer he is, and he’s going to be a cancer as long as he’s got an attitude where ‘I’m bigger than the game.’

“When he was with the Seattle Mariners, he was able to get by, because they left him alone in Seattle. No one cared that he was on his own program.

“In Cincinnati, it’s a team effort, and if you’re not a part of the team, they don’t want you.”
