A man pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and assault stemming from an alleged road rage incident.

Christopher Michael Cairati, 21, of Santa Rosa, entered the plea Wednesday in Sonoma County Superior Court.

He is accused of killing Kenneth Neil Hanson, 53, of Santa Rosa. Hanson’s pickup crashed Feb. 19 after Cairati allegedly jumped into the bed of the truck and attacked Hanson with a shovel. The CHP said Cairati was enraged because Hanson cut him off in traffic.
