Bruin Fans Calling for the Double-Switch

I’ve watched Steve Lavin lose to perennial basketball powerhouses such as Northern Arizona and the University of San Diego, and now he blows the USC game.

Can anyone check to see if Lavin ever voted for Strom Thurmond?

As a Bruin alumnus, nothing irks me more than the chant “Just like football!” bellowed from the rafters of sacred Pauley Pavilion. After years of riding the coattails of talented Bruin players, Steve Lavin’s coaching ability is painfully being exposed with this year’s relatively inexperienced team.

There is no doubt that Mr. Guerrero will act “just like football” and find UCLA a proven coach to guide and develop the fine players they have. Unfortunately, the athletic department will have to dig up about another $1.5 million to stop the bleeding. Perhaps they can dig into Pete Dalis’ fat pension.

Once again, USC is helping UCLA with its athletic program. First we help them get rid of Bob Toledo and now we are working on Steve Lavin.

I wish I could say the same thing for UCLA. We asked the Bruins to beat Washington State to allow us to get in the Rose Bowl. We even loaned them about 15,000 fans for the game, but they just tanked it.

When we beat the Pooh Bear basketball team again and you fire Lavin, remember, you owe us two.

It’s not that Bruin basketball fans are so spoiled by past successes that we long for the return of John Wooden. Heck, we’d settle for Walt Hazzard at this point.
