Canine Cupid Killed, but Love Endures
For a year, a dog in the Jordanian town of Zarqa made regular, furtive deliveries: secret love letters from his master to the man’s girlfriend, carried in a cloth sack strapped to his back.
Things went sour Saturday when the woman’s brother found a note, sparking a fight, the Petra news agency reported. The dog, Big Joe, attacked the brother, who hit the German shepherd on the head with a rock, killing him.
The last letter was a proposal. After neighbors rallied around the couple, the woman’s father consented. Big Joe was buried in the groom’s backyard.
