Unequal seating at the cineplex

Share

My husband Bill and I love the movies! But for Bill, who has one leg, stadium seating in all the beautiful new theaters is a cruel joke (“From ‘plex to palace: A tour,” Dec. 26). Where is handicapped seating for people who can’t climb the stairs? It is directly in front in every new theater, so you are a few feet from the huge screen. To sit there is impossible. Even little children, who sometimes love to sit in the front row of a regular theater, do not sit that close.

For us now, the only way to go to the movies is to find an older theater that has regular seating. These theaters are passed over for the new films, so we wait until finally they are able to show them.

I hope that future theaters will take the handicapped into consideration.
