TiVo Inc. said President Morgan Guenther will resign at the end of the month. TiVo has started a search for a replacement, the Alviso, Calif.-based company said. The company did not immediately return phone calls for comment.

Microsoft Corp. was ordered to start shipping Windows software that includes rival Sun Microsystems Inc.’s Java programming language, setting the stage for an emergency appeal by the world’s largest software maker.

RealNetworks Inc. said it is making publicly available the programming code underlying its software for distributing Internet audio and video files in a bid to take business from rival Microsoft Corp.

Customers will be able to license the right to view and modify the code. Firms that want to sell programs built on the code will have to pay RealNetworks a royalty.

A federal judge ruled that the fraud case against former WorldCom Inc. Chief Financial Officer Scott D. Sullivan was properly filed in New York and refused to dismiss the charges or move the case to Washington.

Jenny Craig Inc., which provides weight-loss counseling, named James P. Evans, former chief executive of Best Western International Inc., as its new CEO.
