At the risk of being called a chauvinist, I think it’s obvious why all these teenage girls are able to compete on the LPGA Tour. It’s the standard of play. The gap between the professional women and the top amateur women is not that great.

The numbers speak for themselves: To play a qualifying round for the women’s U.S. Open, an amateur needed an index of 4.4. For the men’s U.S. Open, a male amateur needed an index of 1.4. That’s quite a difference.
