Nigeria’s main trade union, the Nigeria Labor Congress, said it had rejected a government compromise on fuel price rises and was pressing on with a general strike. NLC President Adams Oshiomhole said the strike would be called off “as soon as an acceptable price is reached.”

The Trade Union Congress, which spearheaded the walkout seeking to block the increases along with the NLC, had suspended its strike. The strike and accompanying protests have threatened oil production.
