Here’s a twist on sitting up straight

Share

Stretching the muscles in the middle of your body not only feels good but also is the key to having good posture. When doing this move, be sure to sit up tall and don’t cheat by leaning backward.

1 Sit cross-legged on the ground with your hands resting on your knees. Lengthen your spine by pulling in your abdominal muscles, and sit as high as you can over the bones in your buttocks. Relax your neck and shoulders.

2 Inhale, then bring your left hand to your right knee,

while moving your right hand behind you for support. Slowly twist to your right, starting at the base of your spine and moving upward through the navel, chest, upper back and head. Exhale, then continue to breath deeply for at least 30 seconds. Return to the starting position and repeat on the other side.
